Nigerian WWE star Oba Femi defeats Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam
Nigerian professional wrestler Oba Femi delivered the biggest victory of his WWE career after defeating Brock Lesnar in the main event of the 2026 SummerSlam on Saturday night.
The highly anticipated Hell in a Cell contest took place at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, United States, marking Oba Femi’s first appearance in the brutal match format.
The Lagos-born WWE star overcame the former world champion in a hard-fought battle, further cementing his status as one of the company’s fastest-rising superstars.
Following the contest, Lesnar paid tribute to his opponent, acknowledging Oba Femi’s emergence as one of WWE’s leading talents.
In a show of sportsmanship, Lesnar described Oba Femi as the future of WWE while referring to himself as part of the past, signaling his admiration for the Nigerian wrestler’s impressive rise in the company.
Reacting to the endorsement, Oba Femi admitted he was surprised by Lesnar’s gesture.
“The hug and public endorsement was definitely a sword and I didn’t see that coming.
“I know that deep down, Brock has always respected me and he knows that deep down, I respect him as
well,” Oba Femi said.
The victory adds another major milestone to Oba Femi’s impressive debut year in WWE. He defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania in April before going on to win the King of the Ring tournament in June.
The SummerSlam defeat also marked a historic moment for Lesnar, as it was the first time he had ever lost a Hell in a Cell match.
