‘I’ve been with him for 29 years, I benefited nothing’ – Kwankwaso ally dumps NDC declares support for Tinubu
Kabiru Abdullahi, a long-time ally of the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abdullahi announced his resignation from the NDC in a letter addressed to the party chairman of Kofar Ruwa Ward in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
The ardent supporter of the Kwankwasiyya political movement attributed his decision to what he described as years of unfulfilled promises within the party.
Abdullahi said his 29-year association with Kwankwaso had not produced the political recognition and benefits he expected.
“I have been with Kwankwaso for 29 years but have only benefited from failed promises. I will go to where I will be respected more,” he said.
He thanked the NDC for the opportunity to serve but said his resignation from the party took immediate effect.
Abdullahi subsequently declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.
His defection comes months after he publicly defended Kwankwaso amid political controversies in Kano State.
