2027: Atiku seeks Tinubu’s disqualification over alleged NYSC certificate forgery
The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku and other plaintiffs are challenging Tinubu’s eligibility over an alleged forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate reportedly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The plaintiffs argued that the certificate submitted to INEC bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which they said is different from the President’s official name, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
They are asking the court to determine whether the alleged discrepancy and other issues surrounding the certificate constitute grounds for Tinubu’s disqualification from the 2027 presidential race.
The plaintiffs are asking the court to determine whether the alleged discrepancy in the certificate affects Tinubu’s qualification to contest the 2027 presidential election.
The suit also challenges provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 in relation to the qualification of presidential candidates.
