Osun 2026: Thugs allegedly disrupt voting at Aregbesola’s polling unit

Published

on

Voting was reportedly disrupted on Saturday at the polling unit of former Osun State Governor and immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, following an alleged invasion by suspected thugs.

The incident reportedly caused some voters to leave the polling unit, temporarily halting the voting process and creating tension in the area.

The disruption occurred amid the ongoing Osun State governorship election, raising concerns about the safety of voters and the peaceful conduct of the exercise at the affected polling unit.

Some party agents at the polling unit alleged that the suspected thugs were affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, the APC agent at the polling unit, Mrs Abogunloko Olufunke, rejected the allegation, saying the individuals were not known to her or the party.

“Those thugs are not our members. I don’t know them,” she said.

The circumstances surrounding the disruption were not immediately clear, while details of any arrests or intervention by security personnel were still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.
