Veteran Poet Alabi Ogundepo dies at 84
Veteran Nigerian poet, Chief Alabi Ogundepo, has died at the age of 84.
Ogundepo, a native of Saki in Oyo State, reportedly died on Monday.
His family announced his death in the early hours of Tuesday, according to reports.
Details surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.
Dupe Ogundepo-Falana, in a statement made available to Very Nigerian, described the deceased as an icon whose contributions to Nigerian literary works would continue to inspire many people.
“Funeral arrangements and other details will be announced by the family in due course.
“The family kindly requests privacy and prayers as we come to terms with this irreparable loss,” he said in the statement.
