Nwifuru fires back at Cubana Chief Priest, calls him ‘Noisemaker, Nobody’

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has responded to criticism from popular socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, dismissing the socialite as a “noisemaker” and “nobody.”

Nwifuru spoke on Sunday during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in the state while reacting to Chief Priest’s recent criticism of his administration.

Cubana Chief Priest had called on the governor to step down, questioning his performance after almost three years in office.

The socialite had also questioned the number of major projects completed by the administration, arguing that Nwifuru’s tenure should have produced more visible and lasting developments in Ebonyi.

He further alleged that Ebonyi was the only state in the South-East yet to experience significant development, accusing successive leaders of failing to bring about the level of progress he expected.

Chief Priest, who has been publicly supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, ahead of the February 2027 governorship election, has continued to criticise the state government.

Reacting to the comments, Nwifuru said he was not concerned about the socialite’s criticisms.

“I don’t have time for Cubana Chief Priest. He’s a noisemaker and a nobody,” the governor said.

Nwifuru added that he would only pay attention to Chief Priest if he happened to remember him.

“But if I remember him… I’m sorry for him,” he added.

The exchange comes amid growing political activities in Ebonyi ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with supporters of the APC and PDP stepping up campaigns and mobilisation across the state.
