2027: Peter Obi will win with or without Igbos’ vote — Isaac Fayose

Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), will win the 2027 presidential election regardless of the level of support he receives from the Igbo community.

Fayose made the statement in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.

He also criticised members of the Igbo community supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, describing such supporters as “wicked”.

According to Fayose, no Igbo politician in the past 40 years, apart from the late Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, had achieved what Obi had accomplished politically.

“Any Igbo man supporting this APC government is a wicked Igbo man. When it comes to politics in Igbo land, in the last 40 years, apart from late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, no other Igbo man has done what Peter Obi has done,” he said.

Fayose also criticised Igbos who do not support Obi, describing them as “wicked and jealous”.

“Any Igbo man that does not support Peter Obi is a wicked and jealous Igbo man. You all should know that with or without you, Obi will still win come January 2027,” he said.

The businessman and political commentator maintained that Obi’s prospects in the 2027 election should not be determined solely by the level of support he receives from the South-East.

His comments come as political parties and aspirants intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with competing political figures making different projections about the likely outcome of the presidential contest.

Fayose’s assertion that Obi will win the election is his political prediction and does not constitute an established electoral outcome. The winner of the 2027 presidential election will ultimately be determined by voters and the official electoral process.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is seeking the presidency on the platform of the NDC in the 2027 election.
