Retired Police officers, families storm National Assembly, demand exit from contributory pension scheme
Retired police officers, alongside their wives and children, on Wednesday staged a protest at the National Assembly, demanding an immediate withdrawal from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
In a video circulating on social media, the protesters were heard chanting, “President Tinubu, sign our bill,” as they called on the President to address their concerns and approve the proposed legislation.
Some of the children who joined the demonstration were seen carrying placards as the protesters pressed for action on their demand to leave the pension scheme.
The demonstration comes a day after military retirees barricaded the entrance to the Military Pensions Board office in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, to protest the formula adopted for adjusting their pensions.
The protesting retired officers blocked access to the premises with canopies and chairs, while armed soldiers prevented them from entering the office.
