The Zamfara State Government has approved a plan to provide 36,176 residents with shares in Dangote Group as part of efforts to promote financial inclusion and improve economic opportunities for citizens.
The initiative, according to the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Relief Matters, is aimed at allowing beneficiaries to participate in investment opportunities and share in the growth of Nigeria’s business sector.
Under the programme, each beneficiary is expected to receive approximately 20 shares through the Dangote Initial Public Offering (IPO).
The scheme will be implemented in collaboration with the state ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Finance, alongside the Zamfara Investment Company.
The programme will be coordinated by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Salisu Musa Tsafe Kainuwa.
According to the ministry, the beneficiaries will be drawn from the state’s 14 local government areas, with 2,261 beneficiaries allocated to each of 13 local government areas, while Gusau, the state capital, will have 4,522 beneficiaries.
The ministry also said the programme would accommodate persons with disabilities as part of efforts to ensure inclusiveness.
It added that the initiative was approved by Governor Dauda Lawal to expand residents’ access to investment opportunities and promote financial independence.
