Six marketers on company assignment abducted in Ogun community

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six marketers working for a Lagos-based real estate company at Oyebola village in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

The victims were reportedly kidnapped on Friday while inspecting a parcel of land belonging to the company.

Speaking in a telephone interview, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, told our correspondent that the abducted individuals were part of a team brought from Lagos to familiarise themselves with the property before marketing it to prospective buyers.

“So, they brought some marketers from Lagos to come and see the land so that they can have the requisite information to market the land for members of the public.”

“It was during their visit that the six people were abducted,” Ogunlowo said.

He added that the command immediately launched a rescue operation and remains committed to securing their release.

“It happened on Friday, and the command has been on it since. We shall definitely ensure that these people regain their freedom,” the CP assured.

The incident adds to the growing wave of kidnappings across the country.

In recent weeks, 38 worshippers abducted in Kwara State and 24 schoolgirls kidnapped in Kebbi State were freed after separate rescue efforts.

However, dozens remain in captivity, including more than 250 pupils, students, and staff abducted from St. Mary’s Secondary and Primary School, Papiri, in Agwara LGA of Niger State, where assailants also killed a security guard before whisking away nearly 300 individuals. About 50 of the abducted students were reported to have escaped afterwards.
