Sowore, supporters storm Police headquarters, demand probe of assassination attempt in Ekiti
He stated that the thugs tried to kill him in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, last Friday, accusing the police of doing everything to cover up the identity of those behind the attack.
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, on Tuesday led a protest to the Force Headquarters in Abuja over an alleged assassination attempt on his life and members of his team in Ekiti State.
The protest attracted a large number of supporters who joined him in condemning the reported attack, insisting that they would no longer tolerate unlawful assaults by suspected political thugs.
During the demonstration, Sowore called on the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and identify those responsible.
He also demanded immediate action over what he described as attempts to conceal the identities of the suspected assailants, urging the police to ensure that those involved were brought to justice.
He stated that the thugs tried to kill him in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, last Friday, accusing the police of doing everything to cover up the identity of those behind the attack.
While warning that they would resist if there were any attempt to sweep the matter under the carpet, the protesters insisted that the police must arrest and parade those behind the assassination attempt.
Recall that Sowore had earlier accused Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, of seizing his stolen mobile phones and other devices that were traced to the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.
