The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, is set to confer chieftaincy titles on Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, and a former governor of Zamfara State, Abubakar Yari, on Sunday.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin, Bode Durojaiye, who said the traditional ruler would bestow the titles as part of his royal duties.

According to the statement, Senator Yari will receive the chieftaincy title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland, representing love, compassion, justice and a bridge between physical and spiritual realms, while Seyi Tinubu, a business magnate, will receive Okanlomo of Yorubaland title, symbolising a custodian of Yoruba values, unity and cultural heritage.

The statement concluded that both titles come with responsibilities such as promoting Yoruba culture, advising the Alaafin, fostering unity and advancing education and social welfare.
