Obi Cubana conferred with prestigious chieftaincy title in Anambra
Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has been honoured with a distinguished chieftaincy title in his hometown of Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State.
In a ceremony held on Saturday, the Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri Traditional Council conferred the title Ife-Igbo-Ji-Ka-Mba on Iyiegbu in recognition of his accomplishments in business, philanthropy, and the promotion of Igbo culture.
The traditional ruler, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpe, described the honour—which translates roughly as “the pride of the Igbo before the world”—as reserved for individuals who have excelled in enterprise and community development. The monarch and council members praised Obi Cubana’s “visionary leadership, value-driven entrepreneurship, and commitment to social impact.”
In his remarks, Iyiegbu expressed humility and gratitude, pledging to continue initiatives that create economic opportunities and strengthen communal growth. “This honour inspires me to positively represent Igbo heritage both within and outside Nigeria,” he said.
The colourful event attracted dignitaries from banking, oil and gas, real estate, hospitality, and community leadership sectors, who gathered to celebrate the milestone and recognise Iyiegbu’s contributions to society.
