Kwankwaso’s son dumps Gov Yusuf, resign as commissioner

The Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, has resigned his appointment as a member of the State Executive Council.

Kwankwaso announced his decision in a statement released on Monday, thanking Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve in the administration.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in him, noting that his time in office provided valuable experiences while serving the people of the state.

“I am deeply grateful to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving me the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. The period has been rewarding, and I sincerely appreciate the trust placed in me,” Kwankwaso stated.

The former commissioner also urged the state government to sustain its focus on youth empowerment and sports development, describing both sectors as critical to the state’s future.

“As I take this step, I hope that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I also pray that our sports development programmes and initiatives will continue to grow and thrive,” he added.

Kwankwaso concluded by offering prayers for the state and its leadership, wishing the government success in its developmental efforts.

“May Allah (SWT) continue to bless Kano State and guide its leaders. I wish the government and the people of the state well,” the statement read.

His resignation comes against the backdrop of ongoing political realignments within the Kano State Government following Governor Yusuf’s recent exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
