Gov. Yusuf removes Buba Galadima as Kano Poly Chairman, names replacement
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the termination of Galadima’s appointment is part of reforms aimed at achieving “optimal performance” and repositioning the institution for academic and administrative excellence.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has removed Buba Galadima as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kano State Polytechnic, appointing instead the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, to lead the institution.
The development was confirmed on Saturday in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa. According to the statement, the decision forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at aligning the polytechnic with the administration’s Kano First Agenda, a strategic plan for educational and institutional improvements in the state.
“Although the tenure of the Governing Council is for a period of three years, the appointment of the Chairman was terminated before expiration due to ongoing reforms for optimal performance of the polytechnic,” the statement read.
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Galadima’s service, acknowledging his contributions to the institution during his tenure. “Governor Yusuf appreciates Engr. Buba Galadima for the services he rendered to the institution and wishes him well in his future endeavours,” Tofa added.
The governor also called on the new chairman to leverage his wealth of experience and leadership to reposition Kano State Polytechnic for enhanced academic and administrative excellence.
“The governor calls on the new chairman to bring his wealth of experience, leadership and commitment to bear in repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for greater academic and administrative excellence,” the statement said.
