President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to formally receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, in a high-profile ceremony at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.

The reception, described by party leaders as a historic and symbolic event, is expected to feature Vice President Kashim Shettima, several APC governors, and top political figures from across the country. Party supporters from the North-West and beyond are also expected to attend.

Addressing party faithful at his office, Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said the ceremony aims to formally welcome Governor Yusuf into the APC while reinforcing the party’s presence and influence in the North-West.

“Monday’s reception is a historic and symbolic occasion for the APC in Kano State and the North-West. It provides an opportunity to showcase the party’s values and strength while formally welcoming Governor Yusuf,” Abbas said.

Abbas outlined extensive preparations for the event, highlighting the committees tasked with ensuring its success:

Venue Committee – 16 members overseeing stadium logistics and arrangements.

Security Committee – 15 members, led by a retired Nigerian Army colonel, coordinating with security agencies to maintain order.

Health Emergency Committee – 15 members responsible for medical services and emergency response.

Mobilisation Committee – 20 members coordinating grassroots participation and supporter turnout.

Protocol Committee – 17 members managing seating and reception arrangements for dignitaries.

Publicity Committee – 15 members, headed by Mohammed Garba with Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa as secretary, managing media relations and public awareness.

Abbas stressed that the event reflects Kano State’s strategic importance in Nigeria’s political landscape and is part of efforts to consolidate the APC’s hold in the region.
