The chairmanship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, on Saturday alleged that his party’s agents were subjected to intimidation during the ongoing area council elections, blaming movement restrictions for the low voter turnout recorded in parts of the council.

Speaking at his polling unit, Paul described turnout as far below expectations, attributing the development to confusion surrounding the restriction directive imposed ahead of the polls.

He said the situation felt unprecedented, likening it to a “state of emergency” declared without justification.

While commending electoral officials at his unit for demonstrating professionalism and adhering to due process, the ADC candidate raised concerns over reports of threats against his party’s agents in Takum Shara and Kabusa Ward areas, including Dogongada and Shereti communities.

He also condemned alleged incidents of vote-buying, describing the practice as a crime reportedly taking place within the nation’s capital.

Despite the challenges, Paul expressed confidence in the outcome of the election, insisting that the will of the people would ultimately prevail.

He urged Nigerians to resist intimidation and demand accountable leadership at all levels of government.
