Delta PDP caretaker secretary Michael Tidi defects to APC

The Delta State Secretary of the caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Michael Tidi, has officially left the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the PDP no longer has the strength to win elections in the state.

Tidi announced his decision during a defection ceremony held in Warri, Delta State. He explained that he chose to move to the APC because he believes his former party has lost its political force in Delta.

According to him, there is no longer any structure or influence within the PDP that can guarantee electoral victory in the state. He added that he feels more comfortable and relaxed returning to what he described as his old political family in the APC.

His defection comes months after Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who was elected on the platform of the PDP, also left the party for the APC alongside several key party leaders.

Tidi, a two time Chairman of Warri south local government on the banner of the PDP before he was recently elevated to the position of the state secretary of the caretaker committee of the PDP told the gathering that he felt happy to reunite with his political friends and leaders in the PDP.

Continuing, Tidi said after a critical assessment of things he came to a conclusion that it was better to remain united with his political friends.

Leading a sizable number of his loyalists to the APC Tidi said he was in his new party to contribute to its beautiful story.

Chairman of Warri south local government , Mr Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, Chairman of the APC in the local government , Mr Richard Pessu , member representing Warri South Constituency I, in the Delta state House of Assembly , Hon Augustine Uroye and some other leaders in their separate speeches welcomed the new entrants to the APC, describing their choice to join the party as a good move.
