Barely a day after seven members of a family and three other residents were abducted in Unguwar Sabon-Titi, Katari, bandits have struck again in Kaduna State in Kurmin-Uwa near Janjala community in Kagarko Local Government Area.

A resident of Kagarko, Ibrahim Shehu, confirmed the latest abduction to reporters via telephone, saying the attack occurred around 10:23 pm on Friday.

He said when the bandits arrived the community, they went straight to their target house and whisked away seven people.

He gave the names of the abducted victims, which comprised of mother and six children as Ladi Malachy, Patience Malachy, Promise Malachy, Inama Malachy, Peter Malachy and Aboyi Malachy.

A community leader who preferred anonymity also confirmed the latest abduction.

He said he alerted the security operatives after he received information of the invasion of bandits into the community, which, according to him, is 2-kilometers away from Kagarko town.

“After I received a distress call that bandits had invaded Kurmin-Uwa village, I quickly alerted the security operatives, but I don’t know if they later responded,” he said.

The community leader said contact is yet to be established with the abductors, even as he expressed concern over continuous bandits attacks on several villages under Kagarko LGA.

A security source said he would find out about the latest abduction and revert later.

“I am just hearing about the latest abduction from you because we have been in the forest since Tuesday, trying to locate the bandits hideout around Kachia in order to rescue those who were abducted in Katari on Wednesday, but I will find out,” he said.

The spokesman of the Kaduna state police command DSP Hassan Mansur neither picked calls nor replied a text message sent to his phone over the latest abduction.
