APC aspirants in Limbo as nomination form sales fail to commence

Contrary to the revised 2027 general election timetable released by the All Progressives Congress, aspirants seeking various elective positions under the party are currently in a dilemma over the purchase of nomination forms.

According to the party’s schedule of activities, the sale of forms was slated to run from Saturday, April 25 to May 2, 2026. However, as of the close of work on Monday, no aspirant had been able to secure a nomination form.

A visit to the APC National Secretariat at Buhari House, 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, revealed a scene of uncertainty, as several aspirants and their representatives were seen moving around the premises visibly disappointed.

Checks indicated that the party is yet to provide the specific bank account details required for aspirants to make payment for the forms.

It was also gathered that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has not released the account details for the payment of mandatory monthly membership dues, a key requirement for eligibility under the party’s guidelines.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Monday, a presidential aspirant, Osifo Stanley, expressed concern over the delay, describing it as an administrative bottleneck.

“I made calls between Saturday and yesterday to officials of the party,” he said. “The account number required to pay for the form is yet to be made available to me as we speak. We have made repeated efforts since Saturday, but we are still in the dark.”

Other aspirants contesting for governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly positions were also said to be facing similar challenges.

Some representatives of aspirants who visited the secretariat on Monday were reportedly not attended to or given any clear information regarding the delay.

Efforts to reach party officials for comments were unsuccessful, as calls made to their mobile phones were not answered.

However, a source within the NWC, who spoke on condition of anonymity, acknowledged the delay and appealed for patience.

“It is unfortunate the sale of nomination forms is delayed,” the source said. “Efforts are ongoing to ensure the commencement of the exercise. The party is perfecting the procedure for a seamless and stress-free process.”
