The Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the payment of a one-time ₦50,000 transport allowance to applicants who participated in the recently concluded Civil Service Recruitment Computer-Based Test (CBT).

The development follows an earlier directive by Governor Umo Eno, who approved the allowance as part of measures to cushion the financial burden borne by applicants during the recruitment exercise.

According to the state government, the payment process is being coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy and is being made directly into the bank accounts earlier submitted by applicants on the Akwa Ibom State Employment Portal.

Applicants have been cautioned against submitting fresh bank details or responding to unofficial requests for personal or banking information, as the government said it would not entertain changes outside the data already captured on the portal.

In line with Governor Eno’s commitment to transparency and accountability, the state government disclosed that applicants and members of the public can monitor the payment process in real time through the Employment Portal. Live statistics reflecting payments processed as of 11:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026, are currently displayed on the platform, with figures expected to change as payments continue in batches.

Applicants can also log into their portal accounts to confirm payment status and download official payment receipts under the “Payments” section once transactions have been completed.

The government advised beneficiaries who are yet to receive alerts to remain patient, noting that payment processing is ongoing and expected to be completed by Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Applicants with unresolved issues after that date were directed to channel their enquiries strictly through the official support platforms provided by the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy.

For assistance, the ministry provided the official support email, [email protected], and helpline number, 0201 229 1111, urging applicants to avoid third-party intermediaries.

The Akwa Ibom State Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the use of digital solutions in public service delivery, stressing that the initiative aligns with the administration’s ARISE Agenda.
