Arsonists attack St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cross River — police confirm

The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed a suspected arson attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Boki Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday. Fire destroyed all church records stored in the sacristry, and the attackers set ablaze the priest’s Lexus 350 SUV and a Toyota Corolla parked on the premises.
Police spokesperson ASP Sunday Eitokpah said no suspects have been identified yet, but investigations are ongoing.
The scene has been documented and the case has been referred to Okunde Police Station for discreet follow-up.
Authorities assured the public that any developments or identification of suspects would be communicated promptly.
