Bauchi govt orders closure of schools over insecurity
The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of all schools across the state due to rising security concerns.
The directive covers all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including those owned by the Federal Government and private operators.
The announcement was issued on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman.
According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations and a careful review of threats to the safety of students, teachers, and school communities.
He noted that although the move may inconvenience parents and learners, the protection of children remains the government’s top priority.
He appealed to parents, guardians, and school proprietors to remain calm, assuring them that the government is working closely with security agencies to address the situation and restore normalcy as soon as possible.
The ministry further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities, stressing the importance of public cooperation in safeguarding communities.
The government said updates on the security situation and reopening plans will be communicated in due course.
