Be bold, join Peter Obi’s campaign – Bwala to Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni
Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has taken a swipe at Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni, accusing him of acting as an unofficial spokesperson for Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In a post shared on X on Monday, Bwala alleged that Oseni’s recent questioning of Obi on policy matters, particularly electricity generation targets, was driven by political bias rather than journalistic scrutiny.
The controversy follows Obi’s pledge to raise Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution capacity to at least 10,000 megawatts within four years if elected president in 2027, a promise he made after emerging as the NDC’s presidential candidate at the party’s convention in Abuja.
Reacting to the promise, Bwala challenged the broadcaster, accusing him of attempting to disguise his alleged support for the former presidential candidate while operating in the media space.
He urged Oseni to take a leave of absence from Arise Television and formally join Obi’s political campaign if he wished to test his competence directly.
“That anchor thinks he is deceiving us by saying he challenges @PeterObi on his plans to generate power as if he is not the unofficial spokesman of Peter Obi,” Bwala wrote.
“Be courageous and bold and be a man by taking a leave of absence or sabbatical from Arise News and join Peter Obi’s campaign and test his capacity,” he added.
The remarks have added to ongoing political tensions and media scrutiny as conversations around the 2027 general elections continue to intensify.
