BREAKING: Bandits attack Kaduna Mosque, kill worshipper, abduct several others
Armed bandits have attacked a mosque in Unguwan Namama village, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one worshipper and abducting several others in a fresh assault that has raised concerns over worsening insecurity in the region.
The attack occurred on Friday night at about 8 p.m. when the gunmen reportedly stormed the mosque while evening prayers were ongoing.
The deceased worshipper was identified as Adamu Ibraheem.
A relative of the victim, Abubakar Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a message sent to the media.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers laid siege to the community and opened fire on worshippers as they exited the mosque, causing panic and chaos as residents fled for safety.
Several worshippers sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of those abducted and injured had yet to be confirmed.
