Brazil secured a place in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Monday after Gabriel Martinelli scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to hand his side a thrilling 2-1 victory over Japan in Houston.
The Brazilian forward found the back of the net in the sixth minute of added time, bringing an exciting round-of-32 encounter to a dramatic end.
His late strike sealed Brazil’s progress to the next stage of the tournament after a fiercely contested match that looked destined for extra time.
The five-time world champions will now face the winners of the round-of-32 clash between Norway and Ivory Coast in the last 16.
