BREAKING: CAF strips Senegal of 2025 AFCON title, declares Morocco winners
The ruling followed a CAF appeal board decision overturning an earlier disciplinary judgment.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially awarded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco following a ruling by its appeal board.
The decision came after Senegal was found to have forfeited the tournament final, following a successful protest by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF).
CAF announced on Tuesday evening that the Senegalese national team breached competition regulations, overturning an earlier disciplinary ruling. The final match result has been officially recorded as a 3–0 victory in favour of Morocco.
The appeal board also addressed related disciplinary issues, including sanctions involving Moroccan player Ismaël Saibari and incidents that occurred during the final.
However, the board’s key decision confirms Morocco as the continental champions for 2025.
