BREAKING: IGP Disu restructures Police hierarchy, removes Hundeyin as Force PRO

The Nigeria Police Force has removed its Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, six months after he assumed the position.

The removal was approved on Thursday, March 5, 2026, amid ongoing internal shifts and restructuring within the police hierarchy following the recent inauguration of Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.

Hundeyin was appointed FPRO by former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who held the office from 2023 until his removal last week.

Details of who will succeed Hundeyin remain unclear as police operations have reportedly been heightened in the Force.

A top source told Our Journalist, “We don’t know who will take over from him, although we thought he would last longer considering his expertise.”

“However, when a new IGP is appointed, it is not news that some positions would be vacant; unfortunately, he was affected.”

The Badagry-born ACP is an alumnus of Lagos State University with a BA (Hons) in English Language and holds an MSc in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.

He also earned a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna.

Hundeyin is professionally affiliated with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the International Public Relations Association, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.

His career highlights include serving as Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, and participating in the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in 2020.
