BREAKING: INEC register DLA, NDC as political parties
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the registration of two additional political parties, raising the total number of registered parties in Nigeria to 21.
INEC National Chairman, Prof. Joaish Amupitan, made the announcement during the commission’s first quarterly meeting with leaders of political parties.
He said the newly registered parties are the Democratic Leadership Alliance and the National Democratic Congress.
According to Prof. Amupitan, the Democratic Leadership Alliance fulfilled all the requirements set by the commission for the registration of political parties.
He explained that the National Democratic Congress, however, was registered in compliance with the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja.
He said certificate of registration will be handed over to the new political parties
