The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed an explosion at the Bagudo General Hospital in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state, triggering panic among residents in the early hours of Tuesday.

Very Nigerian gathered that the incident caused fear and confusion in the community, as residents and hospital staff fled the area following the loud blast.

Confirming the development in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bashir Usman, assured the public that the situation had been brought under control by security agencies.

“The Kebbi State Police Command wishes to assure members of the public that we have full control of the security situation following the explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudo,” Usman said.

According to him, a joint security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and local vigilante groups immediately cordoned off the affected area to prevent further threats and ensure public safety.

The police spokesperson disclosed that Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) specialists were deployed to the scene to assess the situation and determine the cause of the explosion.

“We are grateful to confirm that there were no casualties. Although a building within the staff quarters was affected, the occupants had safely evacuated,” he said.

He further urged residents to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, assuring that investigations were ongoing and that the police would provide updates as more details emerge.
