Three feared dead, three abducted in fresh bandit attack on Kaduna community
No fewer than three people have been killed and three others abducted after suspected bandits attacked Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack reportedly occurred around 11pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, plunging the community into mourning and once again drawing attention to the security situation in the area.
Confirming the incident to Very Nigerian on Tuesday, the National Secretary of the Bundu Kahugu community, Ishaya Dauda, said the attackers stormed the village late at night, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.
He said the assault was not the first on the community, noting that a similar attack about two weeks earlier led to the death of four people. Dauda expressed concern over the repeated attacks, saying the community now lives in fear due to the constant threat posed by the assailants.
“The attackers came late at night and began shooting. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away. This is the second attack on our community in less than two weeks,” he said.
The victims killed during the latest attack were identified as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu and Ezra Namata.
Residents of the community have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the area to forestall further attacks.
They also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage in the community, noting that the attackers often exploit poor communication networks to operate freely and escape without resistance.
“We are pleading with the government to help us. The poor network here is aiding the attackers. We need security presence and improved communication facilities to save our people,” the community leader added.
Efforts to get a reaction from the Kaduna State Police Command as of the time of filing this report were unsuccessful.
