President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general elections after securing an overwhelming 10.99 million votes in the party’s nationwide direct primary exercise.

The results, collated from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, placed the President far ahead of his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,504 votes across the country.

The declaration was made during the national collation of results held at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where state coordinators and collation officers—drawn from across the federation—presented ward-level outcomes of the exercise.

Governors of 31 states, alongside senior party officials serving as collation officers, supervised the aggregation of results from 8,809 wards nationwide.

Regional Breakdown Shows Landslide Victory

In the South-West, Tinubu recorded dominant figures across his traditional strongholds, including 814,988 votes in Lagos, 322,485 in Ogun, 181,996 in Ondo, 142,754 in Oyo, 100,888 in Osun, and 85,340 in Ekiti. His opponent, Osifo, posted minimal figures across the zone.

The North-West delivered similarly decisive margins. Kano State recorded 500,852 votes for Tinubu, while Kaduna, Katsina, Gombe, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara also returned large margins in his favour.

In the North-Central region, Tinubu maintained a commanding lead with strong performances in Kwara, Benue, Plateau, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, and the FCT, where he polled 36,103 votes.

The South-East and South-South zones also returned substantial figures for the President. In the South-East, he recorded over 580,000 votes in Imo and significant margins in Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Anambra. In the South-South, he polled 407,646 votes in Delta, 389,197 in Akwa Ibom, 280,082 in Rivers, and 227,192 in Bayelsa.

Final Collation

At the conclusion of the exercise, Tinubu’s total stood at 10,999,967 votes nationwide, while Osifo finished with 16,504 votes.

The result cements the President’s position as the APC’s flag bearer ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his leadership and administration.
