BREAKING: Tinubu sacks IGP Egbetokun, names new police boss
Kayode Egbetokun has been removed as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and replaced by Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Tunji Disu, a senior police source has confirmed.
The source, who spoke to THE WHISTLER, disclosed that while an official announcement is yet to be made, the decision has been finalised.
“It’s confirmed, but an official announcement will be made,” the source said.
He further added, “AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Confirmed… It’s double confirmation.”
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
An official statement from the Presidency or the Nigeria Police Force is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the leadership change.
