United States President, Donald Trump, has announced that American forces, working in collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces, carried out a joint military operation that resulted in the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as the second-in-command of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) worldwide.

Trump made the disclosure in a statement posted on his Truth Social account on Saturday, revealing that the operation was executed following intelligence gathering and surveillance on the activities of the terrorist leader in Africa.

According to the US president, the mission targeted one of the world’s most active terrorist figures accused of coordinating attacks and supporting operations against both Americans and African communities.

“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield,” Trump stated.

He added that al-Minuki believed he could evade capture by hiding in Africa, but intelligence sources continued to monitor his movements closely.

“Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing,” Trump wrote.

The US president said the killing of the ISIS commander would significantly weaken the group’s global operations and reduce its influence across the African continent.

“He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans. With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished,” he added.

Trump also commended the Nigerian government and the Armed Forces for their cooperation during the mission.

“Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation,” he stated.
