Burna Boy joins Shakira For official 2026 World Cup track “Dai Dai”
The official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been unveiled, with Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy collaborating with Colombian pop superstar Shakira on the highly anticipated track titled Dai Dai.
The tournament is scheduled to run from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
Shakira announced the collaboration on Thursday through a joint Instagram post with FIFA and Global Citizen, confirming that both the song and its official music video will premiere on May 14.
In a one-minute teaser clip shared online, the Colombian singer appeared inside the iconic Maracanã Stadium wearing a royal blue miniskirt and bright yellow top while holding a football.
The teaser featured both artists singing: “You from the day you were born, here in the space you belong… what broke you once, made you strong,” before transitioning into sweeping aerial shots of the stadium with the message: “We are ready.”
The song combines Shakira’s signature Latin pop and reggaetón sound with Burna Boy’s Afrobeats style, creating a cross-continental football anthem ahead of the expanded 48-team tournament.
The project marks Shakira’s second official FIFA World Cup anthem after the global success of Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which became the official song for the 2010 World Cup hosted by South Africa.
She also performed La La La (Brazil 2014) during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and entertained fans at the 2006 World Cup closing ceremony in Germany with her hit song Hips Don’t Lie.
Burna Boy now joins a growing list of Nigerian artistes featured in FIFA World Cup projects.
In 2022, Davido featured on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) alongside Trinidad Cardona and Aisha for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Nigerian stars Kizz Daniel and Patoranking also performed during the tournament in Doha.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature 48 countries, including Colombia, while Nigeria failed to qualify for the competition.
