A senior Nigerian government delegation led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has met with U.S. Congressman Riley M. Moore in Washington, D.C., for discussions centred on the ongoing security crisis in Nigeria, including the persecution of Christians and the wider threat of terrorism.

According to Moore, the meeting was frank, honest, and focused on strengthening cooperation between both countries to combat extremist groups and protect vulnerable communities.

Nigerian officials presented their government’s concerns and challenges surrounding counterterrorism operations, insecurity across various regions, and the protection of citizens affected by violent attacks.

Moore reiterated the United States’ readiness to work closely with Nigeria but insisted on seeing “tangible steps” to prevent Christians from being victims of violence and displacement.

He emphasised that the Trump administration remains firm in its stance against religious persecution.

In his words:
“I made it crystal clear that the United States must see tangible steps to ensure that Christians are not subject to violence, persecution, displacement, and death simply for believing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

“We stand ready to work cooperatively with the Nigerians to help their nation combat the terrorism perpetrated by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants.”

Moore added that Nigeria has an opportunity to deepen relations with the United States, noting that President Trump and Congress are united in their commitment to ending attacks on Christian communities and dismantling terrorist networks in the country.

The Nigerian delegation included:

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu – National Security Adviser (Delegation Leader)
