C’River APC oust Alphonsus Eba as party chairman, name Ojogu as replacement
The crisis within the Cross River chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened on Wednesday as the State Executive Committee removed the party’s chairman, Alphonsus Eba.
Eba was impeached after allegedly refusing to resign despite mounting pressure from several stakeholders within the party who had called for his exit.
Following his removal, the SEC announced Ntufam Ekum Ojogu as the acting chairman.
He is expected to oversee the party’s affairs pending the conduct of a state congress where his appointment will be formally ratified.
According to the SEC, the action is backed by Section 17(6) of the APC Constitution, which empowers the committee to appoint an acting chairman when the substantive occupant is removed from office.
More to come.
