Diallo’s stunning volley earns Man United vital draw at City Ground

Amad Diallo produced a moment of brilliance to rescue Manchester United from defeat with a thunderous 81st-minute volley, earning his side a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest in an electrifying Premier League clash at the City Ground.

United looked on course for a fourth consecutive victory and a rise to second place after Casemiro’s first-half header from a corner, which Forest players argued should not have been awarded, put the visitors ahead.

However, the game turned dramatically after the break as Forest struck twice in two minutes. Captain Morgan Gibbs-White outmuscled Amad to nod in Ryan Yates’ deep cross, before Nicolo Savona pounced on a loose ball in the box to fire past goalkeeper Senne Lammens, completing a swift turnaround.

Despite the setback, Ruben Amorim’s men showed strong mental resolve.

Bruno Fernandes struck the post before Amad, atoning for his earlier defensive lapse, smashed a sensational volley from outside the area into the net to level the score.

The Ivorian almost won it late on, but his stoppage-time strike was cleared off the line by Forest defender Murillo.

Forest’s Elliot Anderson was a standout performer, controlling the midfield with energy and composure.

The 21-year-old played a key role in the equaliser and worked tirelessly to frustrate United’s attacks, even producing a crucial block to deny Fernandes late in the game.

For United, Amad’s display captured both the promise and risk of Amorim’s tactical faith in him as a wing-back.

While his defensive positioning contributed to Forest’s opener, his attacking flair ultimately salvaged a vital point, a balance the team may have to accept for now.

Next up, Nottingham Forest face Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Leeds United on November 9.
