The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to formally inaugurate its newly constituted Selection Committee on Monday, May 25, 2026, following the conclusion of its screening exercises for governorship, National Assembly, and state Houses of Assembly aspirants.
According to a press statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the committee was established to strengthen internal democracy, enhance transparency, and ensure credible candidate selection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee is mandated to review and consider reports submitted by the National Screening Committee and State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees, and to make final decisions on the screening outcomes of all aspirants across the country.
The 21-member panel is chaired by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and was constituted under the guidance of the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, in collaboration with the National Working Committee.
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for 4:00pm at the NDC National Secretariat, will be formally performed by Dickson himself as part of ongoing preparations for the upcoming general elections.
The party said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that only the most credible and competitive candidates emerge to represent the NDC at all levels of elective office in the 2027 polls.
