Elderly woman presents live fowl to Soludo at inauguration
A 74-year-old woman, Madam Grace Okafor, brought a live fowl as a gift to Governor Chukwuma Soludo during his inauguration on Tuesday in Awka.
Okafor said she presented the gift to show appreciation for a N100,000 cash reward she had received earlier from the governor.
The inauguration, held at Alex Ekwueme Square, attracted dignitaries and residents from across Anambra State.
Arriving in a wheelchair, the elderly woman danced her way to the podium carrying the fowl in a bucket, earning cheers and applause from the crowd
Okafor, a native of Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area, said she received the N100,000 support from the governor during an event in Eziowelle community, which she invested in poultry farming.
“I came to witness the swearing-in of Gov. Soludo, ‘Oluatuegwu,’ because he gave me N100,000 during an event in my community in Eziowelle.
“I invested the money in poultry, and this fowl is part of the proceeds. I am here to show my appreciation to him,” she said.
