Emir of Kano starts Law classes at Northwest University (Photo)
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has started attending lectures at Northwest University, Kano, after he was admitted as a 200-level law student.
Sanusi joined other undergraduates in class on Tuesday, wearing a black flowing outfit and a white turban.
His presence in the classroom comes just days after the university gave him special admission into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme, covering both Common and Sharia Law.
According to the institution, the admission was granted in recognition of his vast experience in governance, economics and public service.
Established in 2012, Northwest University is one of two universities owned by the Kano State Government.
Despite being a PhD holder and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi has continued to champion education, social reform and intellectual engagement, remaining a prominent and often provocative voice in Nigeria’s public space.
