Ex-Adamawa Governor, PDP National Chairman Bamanga Tukur dies at 94
Tukur reportedly died in Abuja on Saturday after battling a protracted illness.
Former civilian Governor of Adamawa State and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, has died at the age of 94.

The elder statesman was the third civilian governor of the defunct Gongola State, serving from August to November 1983 before the military coup that ended the civilian administration.
A seasoned technocrat and industrialist, Tukur also served as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
He later became President of the African Roundtable Business before reportedly taking ill in 2023.
Reacting to the development, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, described Tukur’s death as a major loss to both Adamawa State and Nigeria.
Fintiri said the deceased elder statesman made significant contributions to the political, socio-economic and industrial development of the country.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Pastor Humashi Wounishikou, the governor declared three days of mourning in honour of the former governor.
Meanwhile, sympathisers have continued to visit Tukur’s country home in the Old GRA, Jimeta, to pay their respects and offer condolences to members of his family.
The death of Tukur marks the passing of a prominent figure who played significant roles in Nigeria’s political, public service and business sectors over several decades.
