Fire razes factory in Anambra, destroys goods
A factory in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State was engulfed by fire early Wednesday morning, destroying property worth millions of naira.
The blaze, which reportedly started around 5:30 a.m., consumed large quantities of tissue paper, baby clothing, and diapers stored inside the facility.
A resident, Obinna Okoye, said the incident caught many people unaware as most were still asleep when the fire broke out. He added that firefighters arrived at the scene and worked to contain the flames, helping to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
“The fire service men are still trying to quench the fire. You know how inflammable pampers and tissue papers can be,” he added.
Confirming the incident, Commander of Fire Service in charge of Nnewi zone, F Jerry said the fire had been brought under control.
He however said no casualties were recorded, while the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
