The wave of resignations in the administration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, continued on Monday as four more political appointees submitted their resignation letters.

The latest development came exactly one week after Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi resigned as Chief of Staff to the governor.

Of the four appointees, three resigned from their positions at the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Governing Council of Michael Adeniyi Koleosho Polytechnic, Saki.

The fourth appointee resigned as a Supervisory Councillor in Ogbomosho South Local Government Area of the state.

The affected officials are: Mr Afolabi Olusola Joshua, a member of TESCOM; Mrs. Agbejimi Oladoja Rebecca, a member of SUBEB; Honourable Adeyanju Noah Olusola, the Governing Council member, and Adegbola Suleiman Abiodun, the supervisory councilor.

Their resignations were contained in separate letters dated October 19, 2026, and addressed to Governor Makinde through the eight-day old Chief of Staff.

The supervisory councilor’s letter was written to the council chairman.

All the officials announced that their resignations are effective immediately.

In his letter, Joshua expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his appointment as a privilege and an honour.

He said his tenure afforded him the opportunity to contribute to the development of the education sector and the overall progress of the state.

“It has been a great honour and privilege to serve the Government and the good people of Oyo State in this capacity,” Joshua stated.

He added that he remained proud of his contributions to the commission and wished the government continued success in the discharge of its responsibilities.

Until his appointment as TESCOM Board member in June last year, Hon Afolabi had been Action Democratic Party (ADP) chairmanship and House of Assembly candidates between 2021 and 2023.

Similarly, Rebecca, in her resignation letter, thanked Governor Makinde for the confidence reposed in her and the opportunity to serve as a member of SUBEB.

She acknowledged the cooperation and support she received from the board chairman, fellow members, management, staff and other stakeholders throughout her tenure.

“It has been a privilege to contribute to the governance, development, and advancement of the parastatal,” she stated.

Rebecca also expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve and formally requested that her resignation be accepted.

Although both officials expressed gratitude to the governor and his administration, neither disclosed the reason for the decision to relinquish their appointments.

Mrs. Oladoja was until her appointment as SUBEB Board member, had served as Oyo North PDP Senatorial leader and ex-officio member of the State Executive of the party.

While also acknowledging the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Koleosho Polytechnic, Hon. Adeyanju said he remained committed to the continued growth and success of the school.

“Kindly accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation. Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve as Member, Micheal Adeniyi Koleosho Polytechnic Saki,’ the letter read in part.

The latest departure from Makinde’s government bring to 12 the number of people that have resigned recently.

Some of these appointees included ex-Compol Fatai Owoseni, who was Special Adviser on Security; Hon Babatunde Oduyoye, who was a member, Oyo State Advisory Council; Mrs Funmi Arulogun, SSA on Diaspora Matters; Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to the Governor Makinde; Tara Adefope Director General, Due Process Office, whom the government communication last week said had resigned; Dr Amusan Damilare Gideon, who quit as Board Chairman, College of Agriculture, Igboora; two-term lawmaker, Hon Peter Oyetunji, PhD; and others.
