From BNSc Nursing to BSc in Accounting , Masters, PGDE; See list of available programmes, requirements and how to apply for ABU Zaria DLC admission
The Distance Learning Centre (DLC) of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has released the list of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes available to prospective students.
The programmes cover several fields, including business administration, accounting, computer science, political science, nursing science, education, public administration and international studies.
Prospective applicants are advised to carefully check the admission requirements for their preferred programmes before applying.
Undergraduate Programmes
B.Sc. Business Administration
The programme is available through both Non-Direct Entry and Direct Entry admission routes.
B.Sc. Public Administration
Candidates can apply through Non-Direct Entry or Direct Entry.
B.Sc. Economics
The programme is available to candidates through both Non-Direct Entry and Direct Entry routes.
BNSc. Nursing Science
Direct Entry admission is available for the Nursing Science programme.
B.Sc. Accounting
The programme is available through Non-Direct Entry and Direct Entry.
For Non-Direct Entry candidates, the JAMB subject combination includes:
- Use of English
- Economics
- Mathematics
- Any other Management or Social Science subject
B.Sc. Computer Science
Non-Direct Entry candidates are required to have the appropriate JAMB subject combination, including:
- Use of English
- Mathematics
- Any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography
Direct Entry admission is also available.
B.Sc. International Studies
Non-Direct Entry candidates are required to have:
- Use of English
- Government or History
- Economics
- Any other relevant subject, preferably French or Arabic
Direct Entry admission is also available.
B.Sc. Political Science
For Non-Direct Entry, the JAMB subject combination includes:
- Use of English
- Government or History
- Any two of Economics, Geography, Civic Education and Commerce
Direct Entry admission is also available.
B.Sc. Sociology
Non-Direct Entry candidates are required to have:
- Use of English Language
- Government or History
- Any two of Economics, Geography, CRK/IRK, Commerce and Civic Education
Direct Entry admission is also available.
Postgraduate Programmes
ABU DLC also offers several postgraduate programmes for qualified candidates.
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The MBA is among the postgraduate programmes available through the Distance Learning Centre.
Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
The PGDE is available to candidates who meet the stipulated academic requirements for admission.
Master in International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD)
Applicants seeking admission into the MIAD programme are expected to be university graduates with at least a Second Class Lower degree (2.2), in addition to other stipulated requirements.
Master in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (MLCJ)
The programme is open to candidates who satisfy the admission requirements prescribed by the university.
Master in Information Management (MIM)
Candidates who meet the specified academic requirements can apply for the Master in Information Management programme.
Master in Public Administration (MPA)
Candidates seeking admission into the MPA programme should have a first degree in one of the following areas:
- Public Administration
- Political Science
- Local Government and Development Studies
- Economics
- Sociology
- History
Applicants are expected to have a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2).
Candidates with a Third Class degree may also be considered if they have at least five years of post-graduation work experience.
Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)
The Postgraduate Diploma in Management is also available to qualified candidates who meet the programme’s admission criteria.
Master in Public Health (MPH)
The Master in Public Health programme is among the postgraduate courses offered by the ABU Distance Learning Centre.
Important Admission Information
ABU DLC stated that candidates who do not have credit passes in Mathematics, English Language or any other required subject for their chosen programme may be required to sign an undertaking.
Under the undertaking, such candidates will commit to providing results showing credit passes in the deficient subjects before graduation in order to fulfil the admission requirements.
The university also stated that candidates’ results will be verified during the screening exercise.
Prospective students are therefore advised to ensure that all information and academic credentials submitted during the admission process are accurate and verifiable.
