Gawuna loyalist Maisango dump Kano APC position, set to join ADC
The Welfare Secretary of the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bashir Tijjani Maisango, has resigned from the party and is set to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Maisango, a prominent grassroots mobiliser who previously served as Assistant Secretary of the party in Kano, confirmed his resignation in a letter addressed to the state chairman.
In the letter titled “Voluntary Resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC)”, he expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities he enjoyed during his membership.
“I, Bashir Tijjani Maisango, hereby voluntarily resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective April 1, 2026. I appreciate the opportunities the party has given me and wish the APC well,” he stated.
Sources indicate that his decision may not be unconnected to recent political developments in the state, particularly the defection of former Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, who exited the ruling party on March 30.
Maisango is reportedly expected to formally register with the ADC at his Dakata Ward in Kano, signaling a potential shift in political alignments within the state.
The development adds to the growing wave of defections and realignments across Nigeria’s political landscape as stakeholders reposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
