Gov Otu appoints new sports leaders, moves to restore state’s sporting glory
The Governor of Cross River State, Apostle, Prince Bassey Edet Otu has appointed a new team to lead efforts aimed at rebuilding and revitalising sports across the state.
In a statement addressed to residents on Monday, the governor said the newly appointed members will help restore the energy, talent, and excitement that Cross River youths are known for.
The new Sports Commission members include:
• Etta Lawrence Itanya – Chairman
• Queen Gladys Festus – Member
• Hon. Njarani Gabriel Ushie – Member
• Sunny Ndep Ebam – Member
• Ekpenyong Effiom Okon – Member
According to the governor, the mandate of the team is straightforward: to repair the sports sector, support young people, and ensure that Cross River performs strongly again in competitions.
“We are building a state that works for everyone, and sports is a big part of that journey,” he said, adding that the administration is committed to giving young people more opportunities.
He ended the statement with his familiar assurance: “Together, we move.”
