Gunmen abduct two Chinese Nationals from construction site in Kwara
Two Chinese nationals working on the BUA Bode Saadu–Kaiama–Kosubosu road project in Kwara State have been abducted by gunmen.
The victims were part of the construction crew on Monday when masked attackers stormed the site in Ejidongari, Moro Local Government Area, and began shooting into the air to scare workers before taking the expatriates away.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident to Very Nigerian on Friday, saying investigations and efforts to rescue the victims are ongoing.
“It is true that they were abducted from the construction site; they are working with BUA. That’s all for now,” he said.
Kwara has recorded an increase in kidnappings, banditry and other violent crimes in recent weeks.
The latest incident follows the November 18 attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, where gunmen opened fire on worshippers.
On November 25, the presidency directed a full security lockdown across forested areas in the state.
The directive included round-the-clock aerial patrols by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and boots on the ground to dislodge armed groups.
