Kaduna govt halts 66th Independence Day celebration activities
Maiyaki said the state government regretted any inconvenience the decision might cause the general public and other stakeholders.
The Kaduna State Government has suspended activities planned to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day celebration in the state.
The celebration was scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 1, but the government announced on Tuesday that all related activities had been suspended with immediate effect.
The suspension took effect from Monday, September 28, according to a public announcement issued by the state government.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki.
Maiyaki said the state government regretted any inconvenience the decision might cause the general public and other stakeholders.
He, however, appreciated the cooperation, understanding and support of residents and all stakeholders regarding the suspension of the celebration.
The government had earlier scheduled activities to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary in Kaduna on Oct. 1.
