Kebbi APC on deep crisis as party suspends state chairman, LG leader, commissioner

A fresh crisis has erupted within the Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the suspension of key party officials and a serving commissioner.

The ruling party announced the suspension of its State Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, alongside the Chairman of the APC in Zuru Local Government Area, Aliyu Abubakar Abiola, over alleged violations of party rules and procedures.

In a statement issued by the APC State Secretary, Sa’idu Muhammad Kimba, the party said the decision followed complaints from stakeholders within the Zuru Emirate regarding the conduct of the affected officials.

According to Kimba, the allegations included a lukewarm attitude towards party activities, inadequate engagement with stakeholders, poor mobilisation efforts, and non-compliance with established party guidelines.

He explained that after an internal review and investigation, the party leadership resolved to suspend the officials and directed the Deputy State Chairman to assume leadership in an acting capacity pending further decisions.

In a related development, the Kebbi State Government also announced the suspension of the Commissioner for Livestock Development and Fisheries, Kabir Usman Alaramma Zuru.

The suspension was disclosed on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida.

According to the statement, the commissioner’s suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.

The government directed Alaramma to hand over all official responsibilities and government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.

The twin suspensions have heightened tensions within the APC in Kebbi State, raising concerns over growing internal divisions within the ruling party ahead of future political activities.
